Day-wise Itinerary
Manali – Drive to Jobdi – Trek to Chika 10,100 ft
One hour drive from Manali to Jobdi crossing around 30 hairpin bends through splendid landscapes. From Jobdi your adventurous Himalayan trekking begins with some side streams to cross before descending to the valley floor. Trek from Jobdi to Chika is 3 hours. Mesmerizing views walking along River Rani amidst the rocky Himalayas. Forests of oak, maple, deodar and alpines. Chika is an amazing green alpine meadow — said to be from the Mahabharata period when Pandavas spent time here during their exile. 4-5 hrs total.
Overnight: Camp Chika
Chika to Baluka Ghera 11,900 ft
After a wholesome breakfast, set on an easy yet impressive trekking trail. First glimpse of towering snow-capped Dhauladhar ranges — the outer Himalayan chain of mountains. Walk through flowering meadows and picture-perfect valleys. Cross a log bridge over a fast flowing mountain stream. Arrive at Baluka Ghera — hibernating grounds of the great Himalayan brown bear. 5 hrs.
Overnight: Camp
Baluka Ghera to Siagoru 12,900 ft via Hampta Pass 14,100 ft
Early morning start. The trail has easy and gradual slopes — a perfect learning ground for beginner trekkers. Experience the dynamic landscape of the Great Himalayas. Conversations with local shepherds about valley life. Arrive at the spellbinding Hampta Valley and cross the spectacular Hampta Pass (4268 mts) with panoramic views of peaks and glaciers of both Kullu and Lahaul & Spiti valleys. Continue crossing into Lahaul Valley to reach Siagoru basecamp. 8 hrs.
Overnight: Camp Siagoru
Siagoru to Chatru – Drive to Manali 11,000 ft
Drive through Rohtang Pass back to Manali. End of Hampta Pass Trek.
